No blood samples are required for this test. Ultrasound imaging, also known as ultrasonography, uses high-frequency sound waves to create images of the inside of the body.
Test Time:
The test time for USG – NECK can vary but typically takes around 15 to 30 minutes to complete.

Ultrasound tests, including USG – NECK, do not have traditional “normal ranges” like blood tests. Instead, they provide images and measurements that healthcare providers use to assess various aspects of your neck anatomy.
What is the test?
USG – NECK (Ultrasound of the Neck): This is an ultrasound examination of the soft tissues and structures in the neck area. It is used to evaluate the thyroid gland, lymph nodes, blood vessels, and other structures in the neck.
Test Procedure:
You will be asked to lie down on an examination table during the operation. A trained sonographer will apply a clear gel to the skin over the neck area. Then, a handheld ultrasound device (transducer) will be moved over the skin to obtain images of the neck structures.
When to take the test:
USG – NECK is typically performed when a healthcare provider suspects or needs to evaluate conditions affecting the neck, such as thyroid disorders, swollen lymph nodes, or neck pain.
Who should take this test?
This test is recommended for individuals with specific symptoms or conditions related to the neck, such as thyroid nodules, goiter, neck pain, or unexplained neck lumps.
Precautions for exceptional cases (pregnancy, etc.):
If you are pregnant or suspect you might be pregnant, it’s important to inform your healthcare provider and the sonographer before the test. Special precautions may be necessary in such cases.
